Barry Manilow Concert
RBC Center
Raleigh, NC
March 27, 2008
To say the concert was fantastic would be an understatement! The
show was to have been held in January, but was cancelled due to an ice storm.
Barry never ceases to amaze me. I have to say that I think this was by far his
best performance yet! Brian Culbertson and his jazz band opened the show. What
a pleasant and unexpected surprise. Barry appeared in silhouette from the rear
of the stage - dramatic, as always. He is certainly a phenomenal showman. He
was impeccably dressed and started the show with a wonderful medley. If I had to
pick one song that I enjoyed most, I guess it would be I Am Your Child.
His enthusiasm and energy never waivered throughout the entire performance.
The audience cheered when he came down to floor level and picked a gal in the
first row to dance. <Swoon> I’m certain any woman there was jealous and wished
she had been chosen.
After numerous encores, confetti and streamers were hurled into the audience.
I caught my fair share and will add it to some from previous concerts. For
2 hours every now and then we can act foolish and it's okay. We wiggle, wave,
sing, scream, clap and clap.
Just when I think Barry’s show can't get any better, he proves me wrong.
Thanks, Barry for a wonderful evening. I have more wonderful memories to
treasure! Will there be a next time to attend another performance? I sure hope
so!!!!!
